Download the Software
If you are looking to update your version of Creo, the first thing that you need to do is download the new version from PTC's website. This page can be accessed by clicking this link or by going to support.ptc.com and choosing Download Software from the list of popular tasks.
Navigate to: Order or Download Software Updates > CREO PARAMETRIC and then select the version and datecode that you would like to download. Select the Download now: link for the Win64 download.
Download the License File
While the installer is downloading, go to support.ptc.com. Select Manage Licenses from the list of Popular Tasks.
From the License Management portal, type your Host ID under Licenses, switch the radio button from "Zip" to "Text", and click "Retrieve".
**If you do not know how to find your Host ID, please see this documentation.
After completing this process, keep an eye on whatever email address you used to sign in to support.ptc.com. You should receive an email containing two attachments:
- lm_xxxx.txt
- lm_xxxx_standard.txt
Unless you are using a Pro/ENGINEER version prior to Wildfire 2.0, download the first attachment (lm_xxxx.txt). Save the attachment somewhere you are confident that it won't be accidentally moved or deleted.
**A common practice is to create a "Creo Licenses" folder either in your Documents folder or directly on your local disk (the "C:" drive in most cases).
Install the Software
If the new Creo download has completed, open the folder and run setup.exe. Ensure that "Install new software" is selected and run through the installer until you get to the License Identification page.
If there are any unwanted license sources populated under the License Summary section, remove them with either the "-" or the "X" depending on which version you are downloading. Now add the new license source by either dragging the new license file into the "Source" box or selecting the folder and browsing to the license file.
The Source column should now read "7788@[Your Computer Name]" and the Status column should display "Available". In addition, the HOST ID in the install window (left) should match the HOST ID in the license text file (right).
**If the status shows anything other than "Available", please contact support@cadactive.com for assistance.
