Applying Model Templates

Modified on Thu, 3 Dec, 2020 at 11:14 AM

Now that we have created the Part Template, see how-to doc (here), we want to apply it on an Empty Creo PRT. We can apply it as:

  1. Entire model template
  2. Subset of the template (e.g. only the layers, parameters, etc)

1. Apply Entire Model Template

Moving back to Creo, we select Apply Model Template in the CadActive ribbon, then choose Part Template in the dropdown and "Apply Template".

This once "non-compliant" empty part now has the orientations we defined in the Model Template along with the parameters!

2. Apply Subset of Model Template

Let's say for example, that we only want to apply a certain subset of the model template to a "non-compliant" model. First, we create a second empty part SECOND_EMPTY_PART. For this example, we will add two new layers to Part Template in the web application - LAYER_ONE and LAYER_TWO.

Hopping back to Creo, we see SECOND_EMPTY_PART currently has no layers.

To apply just the layers and not the entire model template Part Template, we select Apply Model Template, then choose Part Template in the dropdown, then Show Details in the bottom left hand of the popup window. We select Model Views, then the Layers tab underneath - we see LAYER_ONE and LAYER_TWO with red status icons, meaning they are available in the model template but missing in the model.

To apply them, we simply click on which layer we want to apply, both in this case, and then Apply Selected. We will see the layers created in the layer tree and the status icons turn from red to green.
