Sync Piping Data

Modified on Thu, 29 Jul, 2021 at 11:53 AM

When your organization updates or changes items in the spec-driven piping database, users should make sure they are using the most current version of the database written as PTD and CSV text files. This is done through the "Sync Piping Data" button in the CadActive ribbon.

Where to Find "Sync Piping Data"

You can access the Sync Piping Data from two places. When an ASM is open, go to Applications->Piping and you will see an extra tab in the ribbon for CadActive Piping. Within that ribbon is the "Sync Piping Data" button (shown below).

If Creo is open but no models are loaded, users can find the Sync Piping Data in the CadActive tab of the ribbon (shown below).

How to Use "Sync Piping Data"

Once Sync Piping Data is opened, you will notice two tabs: Download and Diagnostics (shown below). Before Downloading any text files, we recommend making sure the Diagnostics are pointing to the correct locations. If they are not, you can select the "Change Piping Directory" button to change the directory location. One changed, all 4 locations will update. If your organization already has spec-driven configuration location settings (see more info here), those will be shown in the Diagnostics.

Once your locations are set, you can choose whether to Sync All Piping Data, Only Master Catalog, or Only Spec Projects:

  • Sync All Piping Data: will download master catalog and spec spec-driven text files
  • Sync Only Master Catalog: will download only master catalog text files
  • Sync Only Spec Projects: will download only spec text files

Unless you have a LARGE database, we recommend leaving the default of Sync All Piping Data and press "Download Data".

Update Creo Session

If you are downloading text files during a Creo session, we recommend doing an Update Model (shown below). This will load in the next text files to your current session - otherwise, you'll have to close and re-open Creo to pull the latest spec-driven text files.
